Fall is here and Sage Community Network wants our kids to have a spooky season of fun. We are organizing the Fourth Annual Sage Community Scarecrow Stroll from 4:30 to dusk (around 7 p.m.) on Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Idaho Botanical Garden. The event is for Sage students of all ages and their immediate families.
Costumes for children and adults are definitely encouraged! You can walk through the scary Halloween garden for trick-or-treating. Look out for ghosts, scarecrows and other creepy stuff! Dress warmly and bring a flashlight as it can get cold this time of year.
The event is free. Just identify yourselves as Sage students and family at the entrance kiosk and tell the attendant how many are in your party. We have reserved “the Folly,” our own canopy, reachable as you enter the garden area from the large field. At the canopy, we will have three, 8-foot tables with some chairs set up inside as well as enough electrical power for a crock pot or two.
Sage Community Network is providing some refreshments and drinks but parents are invited to bring potluck food items. Beer and wine are also welcome at the Botanical Garden if parents wish to bring them.
We are very fortunate to have this special evening donated to us. A Sage parent barters services with the Botanical Garden, so the Sage community gets to enjoy this event at no cost for the school or parents.
Helping out should be as much fun as attending and there are many ways to help make this event a success. Here are some things people can do:
· Empty garbage cans in and around our canopy and picking up litter. There is no Dumpster, so volunteers will need to take the entire trash bags home for disposal.
· Help round up people and making sure everyone is leaving by dusk.
· Monitor parking. We can park inside the drive-through gates or we can use the overflow area just across the entrance roadway. If we fill up the inner parking lot, we need to advise the kiosk so they can tell people to use the overflow.
· Bring beverages, snacks, paper plates and cups (preferably recyclable).
Please sign up here to help or bring food – it’s quick and easy and will help us keep track of who’s doing/bringing what.
